Biography

Darian Darling is a Los Angeles–based makeup artist, beauty illustrator, and creative consultant celebrated for her bold, hyper-feminine aesthetic and encyclopedic knowledge of beauty and pop culture history. With more than two decades of experience in the beauty industry, she has worked across fashion, music, Celebrity and brand campaigns.

Darian’s work and expertise have been featured in publications such as Vogue, Interview, Grazia, and The Face. Known for drawing inspiration from glam rock, vintage cosmetics, and pop iconography, her approach to beauty blends artistry, nostalgia, and cultural commentary. Vogue once described her as “a modern-day Pierre La Roche,” referencing David Bowie’s legendary makeup artist who defined glam rock style in the 1970s.

Long before social media fandoms existed, Darian was already helping connect Jem and the Holograms fans online. In the late 1990s she created JEM Grrrlz!, one of the earliest websites devoted to Hasbro’s new wave rock star fashion dolls, which became a beloved hub for fans around the world.

A lifelong Jem fan, Darian is thrilled to join fellow collectors, artists, and fans at JemCon to celebrate the music, fashion, and enduring legacy of Jem and the Holograms.
