Biography

Charlie Adler is an Emmy-winning voice actor and one of animation’s most iconic performers. He's been recognized as one of Animation Magazine’s “Top 13 All-Time Voice-Over Artists”, a SOVAS Lifetime Achievement Award honoree, and also inducted as a NATAS Gold Circle Honoree at the 2025 Children & Family Emmy Awards

For Jem and the Holograms fans, Charlie is the voice behind multiple unforgettable villains, including Eric Raymond, Techrat, Zipper, and Angus Bean — key antagonists who helped define the series’ dramatic edge and musical-era storytelling.

Across animation history, his legendary roles include Buster Bunny (Tiny Toon Adventures), Ickis (Aaahh!!! Real Monsters), Ed & Bev Bighead (Rocko’s Modern Life), and the wildly energetic trio of Cow, Chicken, and The Red Guy (Cow & Chicken). He also brought Starscream to life in the Transformers film franchise, bridging classic animation with blockbuster cinema.

Behind the scenes, Charlie is equally influential as a voice director, earning an Emmy Award for Rugrats and shaping performances on The Wild Thornberrys, Harley Quinn, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Unicorn Academy, Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny, and Creature Commandos.

With over five decades in the industry, Charlie continues to inspire new generations of talent through his renowned “Acting for Animation” classes — cementing his legacy as both a performer and one of the defining voices behind the voices.
