IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN’T BE SOLD AT JEMCON?

The following items can’t be sold at JemCon due to licensing agreements and/or safety concerns:

  • Items which have any official Jem Logo or similar rendering which are not official Hasbro or licensed items (counterfeit goods) (custom, recreated fan art that is sold separately or incorporated into merchandise is acceptable on a case-by-case basis)

  • Bootleg copies of media, including CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, soundtracks, movies, television shows, cartoons, video games, or computer programs

  • Fansubs (unlicensed "fan-subtitled" television programs or movies, where audio dialogue is unofficially translated and subtitled into other languages)

  • Unauthorized copies of items including model sheets, animation cels, the Jem Bible, or scripts

  • Weapons, including metallic swords, knives or scissors

  • Food and drink items (hotel policy)

*Any vendor found selling unlicensed merchandise will be asked to remove the items.

  • JemCon reserves the right to expel from the premises any vendor found selling unlicensed Jem merchandise who refuses to remove said materials from their table(s).

WHAT IS THE POLICY ON FAN ART?

Fan artwork may be sold at JemCon as long as it meets the following guidelines:

  • No unflattering or controversial fan art is allowed

  • Depictions of violence, drug use, smoking, nudity, crude poses, or anything sexual (beyond what was shown in the cartoon) is not allowed.

  • Please keep fan art G-rated as JemCon is a family friendly convention

  • Fan art accurately depicting dolls, characters, fashions, playsets, etc., is allowed as long as it doesn't too closely resemble produced Jem art

  • Anything that could be a tracing or copy of existing art not allowed.

*JemCon staff reserve the right to remove any fan art violating the JemCon fan art guidelines. If you are unsure whether your artwork is within JemCon guidelines, please contact JemCon on the JemCon inquiry form with samples of your artwork.

WHAT ABOUT FAN FICTION?

  • Unfortunately fan fiction is not allowed at this time

PARKING

  • Parking is complimentary for all attendees

ACCEPTED PAYMENT METHODS

  • This is ultimately up to the vendor’s discretion, but many of our shoppers ask to use Paypal or Venmo. Having a card swiping device (Square, etc) will be very handy and appreciated. The hotel won’t be able to make change so please plan accordingly.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ATTEND JEMCON? WHAT KIND OF FOOT TRAFFIC CAN I EXPECT?

  • It is impossible to accurately predict the number of attendees at JemCon as the location and featured guests change each year. We naturally end up with a big influx of registrations in the weeks leading up to the event. We’ve had everything from small gatherings (around 50) up to 150 attendees when in larger cities.

  • While JemCon is not the same size as a large “comic con” convention, many vendors and guests have reported having better success both with selling and finding the items they are looking for at our event. This is due to the niche nature of programming, featured guests, and type of attendees. Exact sales can’t be guaranteed, but we can guarantee you a truly outrageous experience.

  • Regarding foot traffic, the vendor room will be part of a larger ballroom, separated by sliding room dividers. The rest of the ballroom houses the classes, panels, and other scheduled JemCon activities. Vendors are welcome to attend all evening activities and other sessions as practical.

  • The heaviest foot traffic will be first thing Saturday morning and during lunch time both days. Vendors may leave for meal breaks, etc if there is at least one vendor or staff member onsite to watch the room. There will be times with limited traffic as attendees largely attend guest panels.

I’M STILL NOT SURE IF MY ITEMS CAN BE SOLD. I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS.
