JemCon Fan Art Guidelines

  • Fan artwork may be sold at JemCon as long as it meets certain guidelines:

  • The artwork must be created or legitimately owned by you (such as original paintings, drawings, etc.,) or we must have proof that the artist entrusted you with the sale of their art (such as copies of prints, stickers, postcards, etc.)

  • Fan art accurately depicting dolls, characters, fashions, playsets, etc., is allowed as long as it doesn't too closely resemble produced Jem art. We want to respect the rights of our guests.

  • Anything that could be a tracing or copy of existing art – even if colors or minor details are changed – is not allowed.

  • No unflattering or controversial fan art is allowed. Depictions of violence, drug use, smoking, nudity, crude poses, or anything sexual (beyond what was shown in the cartoon) are not allowed.

  • Because any guests who are writers must protect themselves from claims of infringement, we cannot allow fan fiction for sale.

JemCon staff reserve the right to remove any fan art violating the JemCon fan art guidelines. If you are unsure whether your artwork is within JemCon guidelines, please contact JemCon with samples of your artwork at any time before the convention.

How Vending at JemCon Works (details current as of January 2022)

  • JemCon is a small, very friendly convention. While some things below may seem unorthodox, they work well. We usually have between 4-6 vendors, with 1-2 tables each. Times given below may be subject to change as scheduling progresses.

  • Setup will be open Friday, Sept. 2, from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Vendors may also set up on Saturday morning when the room opens at 8:00 for sales, if needed.

  • The vendor room will open at 8:00 AM on both Saturday, Sept. 3 and Sunday, Sept. 4, and will stay open until 5:00 PM Saturday and [time TBA] Sunday, with a few closings for special guest panels [times TBA.]

  • We may also have the vendor area open for sales part of Friday evening, depending on vendor arrival times.

  • We ask that vendors be at their tables when the room opens and at closing times.

  • The heaviest traffic will be first thing Saturday and lunchtime both days. Vendors may leave for meal breaks, etc., if there is at least one vendor or staff member there to watch the room. There will be times with very little traffic, as attendees largely attend the scheduled activities.

  • Many shoppers ask to use PayPal. Having card swiping available (Square, etc.) would also be very handy. The hotel will not be able to make change, so please be prepared.

  • We plan to have the JemCon doll display in the vendor room. We do this most years, and it draws people in nicely.

  • The vendor room will be locked when it is closed.

  • We are flexible with vendors tearing down at any time after lunch on Sunday. The room should preferably be empty by 6:00 PM. If you have other time restrictions, please let us know.

  • The vendor room is part of a larger ballroom, separated by sliding room dividers. The rest of this ballroom houses the classes, panels, and other scheduled JemCon activities. Vendors are very welcome to attend all evening activities and other sessions as practical (see above.)

  • Please let us know if you need an electrical outlet.

  • Free hotel wifi will be available in the vendor room.

  • Tables are standard banquet size and will have tablecloths and ruffles.

  • Hotel parking is free!

Vendor Pricing

  • In order to be a vendor at JemCon, you are required to register for the convention. Vendors get 50% off the listed registration price, but will be charged $25/table.
